This is the only surviving photo I have of what was known as the 'Heatwave' guitar, taken in 1990. The guitar was an Ibanez 550 model in yellow, and was used to record the original demo version of 'Heatwave' (from The Magician, 1991) in 1990. I used this same guitar to play the live guitar solo on MTV in 1989 on the Bailey Brother's rock show. I stopped using basswood bodied guitars in 1993, and have only ever played mahogany-bodied instruments since. The silhouette on the back of the guitar was drawn on with a marker pen then laquered over.
